Paving the Patio & Pool area

In Johannesburg and surrounds, we are blessed with sunny days to enjoy outside around the pool. At Pave Consult, we love creating and designing paving for patios and pools – paving that is functional, but more importantly fits with the aesthetics and needs of the home. This may include ancillary features such as pool coping, safety fences, retaining walls, and lighting.

These pool sites vary from a farm to a hillside extending on a wooden deck. The pavers are various SmartStone flagstones – designed to mimic natural sandstones and granites at a fraction of the cost with better technical performance in the UV and Chlorine environment. Note the details of bullnose pavers for the pool coping and steps, and the finishes of the cutting around pillars and curved edges.

Existing material was removed, including the pool coping, and the levels re-established for correct drainage – the minimum slope for water to flow away to give the most level surface for tables and chairs. Challenges on these jobs were in the access for a remote site to a steep slope.

Corobrik clay pavers are also a perennial favourite for pools and patios given their earthy, natural appearance kiln-fired from mined clay. And we also work with modern high-tech refinished cement products, sometimes polished to reveal the cement aggregate, up to 900 x 600 mm and 1 000 x 500 mm
